Nora Agapi is an award-winning filmmaker and educator with extensive experience, dedicated to crafting compelling visual narratives that illuminate the impactful stories of individuals and communities. She is based in Greece and Romania, with a global reach in her work.
She holds a degree from the National University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in Bucharest, Romania, and a Master’s in Digital Arts from the University of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece. Nora is also a member of the Romanian Filmmakers Union.
Her debut feature film, "Timebox" (2018), has gained international recognition, screening at multiple festivals, winning several awards and broadcasting on HBO.
Over her extensive career, she has worked on a diverse range of projects, including documentaries, short films, and TV productions across Romania, Sweden, Ireland, the USA, and Africa.
In addition to her filmmaking, Nora has a strong passion for teaching. She has mentored aspiring filmmakers at various international festivals, including her long-standing collaboration with the Exploration Workshop class at the Moldox Documentary Film Festival in Moldova.
Nora is also an accomplished photographer, currently focused on preserving and showcasing the archival films and photographs of her father, Ioan Agapi. In 2020, she organized an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, featuring a selection of his photographic works that span over 50 years of Romanian history.
