Off The Beaten Track chronicles a world, untouched for centuries, struggling with profound change. Since joining the EU, Romanians are free to work as agricultural labourers and earn more in one month than a year in their traditional occupation, as shepherds. The film captures one year in the life of Albin and his family of shepherds in the North of Transylvania, their day to day routines, and their attempts to adapt to a new world where traditions are gradually replaced by modern values.
